A scholarship honoring A. Russell Berti, Class of 1928, who was associated with the law school for more than 50 years and served as acting dean of the law school three times. Attorney Nicholas G. Schoonbrood letter dated 12.06.1961 states that the fund was established by the Class of 1956 to honor Professor A. Russell Berti.

The Paniagua and Aragon Family Endowment Fund was established by generous donations from Mynor D. Aragon in honor of his grandmother, Alicia "Itos" Paniagua. Mynor wishes to honor and recognize his grandmother's encouragement of his education by encouraging others in their pursuit of higher education.





The Health Resources and Services Administration Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students (HRSA for SDS)

This grant is funded through the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and is focused on providing financial assistance for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Qualified students will receive up to $26,000 per academic year and can reapply for funding as long as they are eligible for the program. Please note that repeat awards are competitive and not guaranteed.

The purpose of this scholarship is to increase the enrollment and retention of first-generation, underrepresented minorities (URM) in nursing with high unmet financial need. In alignment with the grant objectives, priority funding will be given to African American and Latinx students, as well as students that commit to pursuing post-graduation employment in primary care and/or medically underserved communities. Even if you do not fall into these categories, we encouraged you to apply as you are eligible for this award.

Eligible Applicant:
  • Student from a disadvantaged background as defined by HRSA, this includes economically, educationally, and environmentally disadvantaged. Qualified applicants will be contacted by Dr. Banks via email (if you did NOT receive an email from Dr. Banks then you are NOT eligible for this scholarship, do NOT apply)
  • Full-time students admitted and/or enrolled in the BSN program and are in good academic standing
  • Continuing Students must have a minimum GPA 2.9 out of 4.00 or equivalent
  • Continuing Students must not be in their last semester
  • If you are considered an independent by being at least 24 years of age and not listed on your parents' tax income for 3 or more years, you must be able provide 3 years of proof that you have filed taxes independently. 
Trainee Obligations:
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.9 and above.
  • Continued funding in the spring semester is dependent on the maintenance of good academic standing and completion of all program obligations.
  • Students must commit to providing post-graduation employment information to USF SONHP.
  • As a recipient of the SDS scholarship, students must commit to working with a mentor for one year or longer.
